Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – A 27-year-old man from Louisiana has been arrested on several narcotics-related charges following an investigation by the Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Task Force in connection with over 14 pounds of marijuana, crack cocaine, and heroin, as well as firearms and cash.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma, Louisiana man suspected of various charges stemming from a Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Task Force investigation. Zavery Razshad Gaither, 27, of Houma, Louisiana, was arrested in connection with the investigation of several narcotics-related crimes.
Agents from the Terrebonne Parish Narcotics Task Force obtained information about Zavery Razshad Gaither’s connection with illegal narcotics at a residence in the 100 block of Westside Blvd. during the Mardi Gras season. During proactive checks in the area, Agents noticed a vehicle affiliated with Gaither.
As Agents approached the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Gaither, fled the scene at a high rate of speed. While Agents pursued, they reportedly saw a male subject depart the vehicle and flee the area on foot, racing through the backyards of the next neighborhood.
The male subject was apprehended shortly after and positively identified as Zavery Razshad Gaither.
During the chase, additional agents captured the vehicle and discovered many individuals inside, as well as indicators of narcotics crimes. As the investigation continued, interviews with the additional residents verified the suspected drug activities, which lead Agents to a residence in the 100 block of Westside Blvd. known to be associated with Zavery Gaither.
In connection with the ongoing investigation, agents executed a search warrant, which resulted in the recovery of about 4 grams of Heroin, over 34 grams of Crack Cocaine, more than 14 pounds of Marijuana, two firearms, and over $5,000.00 in cash.
Agents discovered that Zavery Razshad Gaither was a Convicted Felon, which barred him from possessing firearms. Zavery Razshad Gaither was arrested on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the presence of a CDS, Illegal use of a Controlled Drug in the presence of a person under 17, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Hydrocodone, Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS II, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Zavery Razshad Gaither was then booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on the accusations and is still being held in jail on a $500,000.00 total bond set by local judges.
Sheriff Soignet commended the Narcotics Task Force for an outstanding job on this investigation. Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Narcotics Task Force does an amazing job, and their relentless dedication to bringing narcotics offenders in our parish to justice does not go unnoticed.”
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
