Major Assaults Detectives Arrest Louisiana Man After Allegedly Refusing to Leave a Residence and Shooting Victim Through Door

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Major Assaults Detectives have arrested a Louisiana man after he allegedly refused to leave a residence and shot a victim through the door.

The Baton Rouge Police Major Assaults Detectives have initiated an inquiry regarding a non-fatal shooting incident that transpired on June 12, 2023, at 1:49 AM. In the course of their investigation, the Detectives uncovered that the suspect, identified as Cody Crump, had visited the victim’s apartment and exhibited aggressive behavior. Despite repeated requests from the victim to depart, Crump adamantly refused. Subsequently, he brandished a handgun, directing it toward the victim. The victim managed to secure the apartment by locking Crump out, however, he proceeded to fire shots through the door, ultimately striking the victim.

Drawing upon the evidence and information acquired, the Detectives were able to procure an arrest warrant for Crump on a multitude of charges. These charges include Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use of Weapons, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Simple Battery, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies, and Assault with a Firearm.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
