Low-Cost Drive-Thru Rabies Clinics in Sulphur and Lake Charles for March 2023

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – The upcoming low-cost drive-thru rabies clinics in Sulphur and Lake Charles have been announced by Calcasieu Parish Animal Services.

The drive-thru rabies clinic in Lake Charles will be from 7 a.m. until noon, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Burton Coliseum Complex parking lot, located at 7001 Gulf Highway.

The drive-thru rabies clinic in Sulphur will take place between 7 a.m. and noon, on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the West-Cal Arena & Events Center parking lot, located at 401 Arena Road.

The vaccination and licensing price for an already spayed or neutered animal is $8. The price for an unmodified pet is $10. The clinics will also offer microchipping.

Residents must pay in cash or by check; no debit or credit cards will be accepted.

All cats must be contained in portable kennels.

All dogs and cats above the age of three months must be vaccinated and licensed, according to state and parish laws. These drive-thru clinics assist to prevent the spread of rabies, and once vaccinated, your pet must wear a rabies licensing tag. Cat owners are recommended to use breakaway collars with tags.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and Calcasieu Parish Animal Services indicated that a pet owner is “any person, business or entity that provides care, harbors, acts as custodian, or permits an animal to remain on or about their premises.” If someone is bitten, this owner could be held accountable.
