Alternating Lane Closures on Kelso Bayou Bridge for Joint Sealing Work

Cameron Parish, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that there will be alternating lane closures on Kelso Bayou Bridge on Thursday, December 14, 2023. These closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

During the closure hours, flaggers will be present to maintain traffic across Kelso Bridge in both the northbound and southbound directions. The purpose of these closures is to allow crews to perform vital joint sealing work on the bridge.

Joint sealing work is an essential maintenance activity that ensures the longevity and structural integrity of bridges. It involves sealing the gaps between concrete components to prevent water infiltration, corrosion, and other potential damage. By carrying out this work, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is proactively maintaining the safety and reliability of Kelso Bayou Bridge.

Motorists traveling in the area should anticipate delays and plan accordingly. It is recommended to allow extra time for the journey or consider alternative routes if possible. The Department advises drivers to follow all posted signs and instructions from flaggers to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic during the lane closures.
