Louisiana Woman Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in 3-Vehicle Crash on US 90

Jennings, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported that on November 10, 2022, soon after 2:30 p.m., Troopers from LSP Troop D responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of LA Hwy 1126 and US Hwy 90 in Jefferson Davis Parish. Mildred Elana Hydle, 58, of Mermentau, Louisiana, died in the collision.

The first investigation found that a 2001 Dodge pickup truck driven by 58-year-old Michael P. Prather of Rayne, Louisiana was going east on LA 1126 and approached the intersection with US 90. At the same time, the driver of a 2000 Ford Expedition was going east on US 90 and approaching the junction of LA 1126. Prather ignored the stop sign, drove through the intersection, and collided with the Ford on the passenger side. Following the original collision with the Dodge, the Ford entered the westbound lane of traffic and was hit by a 2013 Toyota pickup truck.

Hydle, who was a front-seat passenger in the Ford, was adequately restrained. She had life-threatening injuries and was sent to a hospital in the Jennings area, where she died. All three drivers were securely restrained and had minor to moderate injuries. Toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This accident is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this time to urge motorists to always make sound decisions behind the wheel. Never drive while inebriated, fatigued, or distracted, and obey all traffic laws. Simple precautions like these can frequently make the difference between life and death.

So far In 2022, Troop D has investigated 25 fatal crashes, resulting in 27 deaths.
