Louisiana Woman Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on LA 4 After Vehicle Collides with Tree and Catches Fire
Bienville Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on LA 4 after her vehicle collided with a tree and caught fire.
On April 23, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated that Troopers assigned to Troop G began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on LA Highway 4 just east of Haysfield Road on April 22, just before 6:00 p.m. Shavon Sullivan, 57, of Saline, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The initial inquiry found that Sullivan was driving a 2018 Kia Soul east on LA Highway 4. The Kia exited the road for unknown reasons and struck a mailbox before colliding with a tree. The automobile was completely engulfed in flames as a result of the crash.
Sullivan, who was properly restrained according to police, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police indicated that impairment on the part of the driver is unknown at this time; however, routine toxicological samples were taken and will be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.
While not all accidents are avoidable, seat belts can significantly reduce the occupant’s chances of death and injury.
Although the exact reason for this incident is still being investigated, LSP indicated that distracted driving is a major cause of many avoidable crashes. Troopers want to encourage all drivers to be cautious when operating any motor vehicle. You are unable to observe and react to changing road conditions if you take your focus away from the road, even for a brief time.
Troop G has investigated ten fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in ten deaths.
