Louisiana Woman Killed in Crash on US 71 After Her Vehicle Overturned into a Bayou
Louisiana - On October 31, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that at around 7:30 a.m., LSP Troop E responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 71 at the Natchitoches Parish and Winn Parish line. Kelly Allen, 44, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, was killed in this crash.
The initial inquiry found that Allen was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 northbound on U.S. 71. Allen reportedly lost control of her vehicle, ran off the roadway, hit a guardrail, and overturned into Saline Bayou for unknown reasons.
Allen, whose restraint usage is unknown, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A regular toxicological sample was obtained and submitted for examination.
While the reason for this crash is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving is a significant cause of crashes in our state. The Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to drive cautiously. A slip in attention can be fatal.
Troop E has investigated 46 fatal crashes resulting in 48 deaths so far in 2022.
