Louisiana Woman Killed in ATV Crash After a Tire Malfunction
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on August 14, 2022, that on August 13, 2022, at about 7:00 p.m., LSP Troop E responded to a fatal crash on Webster Maricle Road west of Louisiana Highway 113. Belinda R. Thompson, 62, of Pitkin, Louisiana, was killed in the incident.
Thompson was reportedly driving a 2004 John Deere all-terrain vehicle (ATV) east on Webster Maricle Road, according to the preliminary inquiry. Thompson’s ATV overturned numerous times due to a tire malfunction for reasons that are still being investigated. Thompson was thrown from the ATV as a result of this action.
Thompson suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Thompson died as a result of her injuries on August 14, 2022, according to Troop E. A toxicological sample was collected and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.
Troop E investigated 27 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 29 deaths.
