Louisiana Woman Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on US 90 After Colliding with Mack Truck

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported that on October 20, 2022, soon before 7:00 a.m., LSP Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle fatal crash on US Highway 90 near Louisiana Highway 182 just east of Raceland, Louisiana. Alexis Crimiel, 19, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, died in the crash.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Crimiel, who was driving a 2014 Nissan Versa, was stopped on LA Hwy 182 at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 90. At the same time, a 2013 Mack truck was going west on U.S. Highway 90 in the right lane. Crimiel failed to yield to approaching traffic for unknown reasons, entered the junction, and was hit by the Mack.

Crimiel, who was restrained, suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. The Mack’s driver was also restrained and sustained minor injuries.
A toxicological sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for testing. This accident is still being investigated.

Drivers must constantly make sound decisions when operating motor vehicles. Obeying all traffic regulations and never driving while impaired, drowsy, or distracted can frequently mean the difference between a safe drive and one that ends in tragedy.

So far in 2022, Troop C has investigated 41 fatal crashes, resulting in 45 deaths.
