Sulphur, Louisiana – The Sulphur Police Department confirmed on August 25, 2022, that on August 17, 2022, SPD received a call from Diondra Evans Daniel, who reported being pulled over by a male subject posing as a law enforcement officer.

Detective Jeremy Cain was tasked with looking into Daniel’s complaint. Detective Cain found security video from the location of the traffic stop and confirmed that Daniel was actually pulled over. Detective Cain concluded that the vehicle that pulled Daniel over appeared to be an unmarked Louisiana State Police car. Detective Cain contacted Louisiana State Police Troop D, which confirmed the traffic stop.

Detective Cain requested to review the body and dash-camera footage of the traffic stop as he was concerned about Daniel’s statement. Detective Cain confirmed that most of the details in Daniel’s story were incorrect after analyzing the Trooper’s dash and body camera.

After meeting with the District Attorney’s Office, Detective Cain charged Daniels with Criminal Mischief-Giving of any false report or complaint. On August 24, 2022, Daniel was served with a Misdemeanor Summons.
