Louisiana Woman Arrested in Mississippi in Connection with a Juvenile with a Significant Head Injury

Louisiana – On October 12, 2022, the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on September 27, 2022, detectives initiated an investigation into an event that occurred on September 21, 2022, in which a 1-year-old juvenile sustained a significant head injury while being cared for at an Elton, Louisiana residence. Following their investigation, investigators obtained a warrant on October 11, 2022, for Coriana Renee Young, 27, of Elton, Louisiana. When detectives learned that Young was in the Natchez, Mississippi region for work, they contacted local officials for assistance. Deputies of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Natchez, Mississippi spotted Young later that evening and apprehended her without incident. She was detained in the Adams County Jail pending extradition on charges of 2nd-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
