Louisiana Woman Arrested in Connection with October 1 Shooting Death 

The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on October 3, 2022, that Ashley Johnson-Washington, 21, of Reserve, Louisiana, was arrested on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in connection with the shooting death of Andrew Turcuit Sr., 70, of Reserve, Louisiana.

Deputies arrived at the 100 block of East 21st Street in Reserve, Louisiana, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in connection to a shooting. Officers discovered Turcuit Sr.’s body and administered aid to the victim with the assistance of emergency medical personnel. Turcuit Sr. ultimately died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a female suspect identified as Johnson-Washington was responsible for the shooting death of Turcuit Sr.
Detectives acquired a judicial warrant for the arrest of Johnson-Washington based on information gathered during this investigation and issued a BOLO to nearby agencies in search of Johnson-Washington.

Johnson-Washington surrendered to a neighboring agency on the evening of Sunday, October 02, 2022. Johnson-Washington was transferred to St. John Parish on October 3, 2022, where she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the homicide of Turcuit Sr. She was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.

Johnson-Washington’s bail has not yet been set.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
