Bayou Vista, Louisiana – A woman from Morgan City, Louisiana has been apprehended tied to a deadly fire in Bayou Vista, Louisiana that led to two fatalities last month.

Haley Ramo, a 22-year-old, was placed into custody at the St. Mary Parish Jail on Monday, September 18. She was charged with one count of Negligent Arson and another of Negligent Homicide.

On Saturday, August 5, at approximately 7:45 a.m., the Bayou Vista Fire Department was called to a fire in a double-wide mobile home on Jupiter Street, situated in the Bayou Vista region.

Regrettably, the responders found a 28-year-old man dead in a corridor and a 38-year-old woman in a bedroom. Another resident, a 29-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. Sadly, at least two canines also perished in the blaze.

After evaluating the site and collecting testimonies from witnesses, deputies concluded that the blaze had originated in the living room of the home. The inquiry revealed that Ramo was present at the home when the fire broke out and managed to get out unscathed.

After thorough investigations, deputies secured a warrant for the arrest of Ramo in relation to the case. The swift action by the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office resulted in Ramo being promptly found and arrested.

The SFM thanked the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration in this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
