Jackson Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana woman and a juvenile were killed and others injured in an SUV vs school bus crash on US 167.
On March 8, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that at 3:45 p.m., LSP Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 167 south of Louisiana Highway 147. Katelyn D. Granger, 29, and Anna P. Rivers, 7, were killed in this crash.
Granger was traveling north on US Highway 167 in a 2014 Honda CRV, according to a preliminary inquiry. A northbound Jackson Parish school bus was stopped to allow a student to exit. The Honda CRV collided with the back end of the school bus for unknown reasons.

Two more children, who were properly restrained, had minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The school bus driver was securely restrained and was not injured. The school bus’s juvenile occupants were either unharmed or suffered minor injuries.
According to Louisiana State Police, no impairment is suspected at this time; nevertheless, routine toxicological samples were sent for investigation. This crash is still being investigated.
Although the specific reason for the incident is still being investigated, Troopers warn the public that inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and a top cause of crashes in our state.
