Lake Charles, Louisiana – Get ready for a potentially stormy weekend as meteorologists predict numerous showers and thunderstorms to hit the area from Saturday into Sunday morning. However, relief is in sight as an extended period of dry weather is expected for next week.
According to the latest forecast, residents in parts of Louisiana and Texas can anticipate showers and thunderstorms throughout Saturday and Sunday, with the highest chances occurring north of I-10. On Saturday, specific areas along and north of a Sabine Pass to Opelousas line have been highlighted as being at Marginal to Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall. Rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches are expected, with some areas likely to see even higher totals.
Sunday brings with it a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms. Weather experts caution that all modes of severe weather, including damaging winds, hail, and even isolated tornadoes, could be possible from late Sunday morning through the early evening hours.
A cold front is expected to move across the region late Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing an end to the precipitation chances. As a result, cooler and breezier conditions are anticipated for the remainder of Lundi Gras on Monday. Fortunately, Mardi Gras looks to be a pleasant affair with cooler temperatures and clear skies.
