Union Parish, Louisiana – A three-month investigation has led to the arrest of a volunteer firefighter in Union Parish, Louisiana, on charges of simple arson. Christopher Kyle Holman, a member of a local volunteer fire department, was taken into custody on October 2 after admitting to starting two fires.

The investigation, a joint effort between the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s (LDAF) Enforcement Division and the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, began in June 2024. LDAF’s enforcement division received a complaint about a volunteer fireman setting fires, which sparked the inquiry.

According to investigators, Holman was among the first responders to several fires during his shifts as a volunteer firefighter. However, his consistent presence at the scenes raised suspicions among his colleagues and led to a deeper probe.

LDAF investigators gathered evidence that eventually led to Holman’s arrest. When questioned, Holman confessed to starting two fires, although the exact circumstances surrounding these incidents were not disclosed.

Holman has been charged with six counts of simple arson, a crime that falls under LA R.S. 14:52. He is currently being held at the Union Parish Detention Center, with a bond set at $150,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
