Galliano, Louisiana - A 63-year-old Galliano, Louisiana man died in a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3235 early Saturday morning, according to Louisiana State Police Troop C.
Clovis Vizier was operating a 2014 Kawasaki Teryx UTV when the fatal collision occurred just north of Golden Meadow in Lafourche Parish shortly after 6 a.m. on September 6, 2025.
The preliminary investigation shows Vizier was driving the utility terrain vehicle southbound on the northbound shoulder of Louisiana Highway 3235. A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south in the proper lanes at the same time.
For reasons still under investigation, the Kawasaki attempted to cross the highway and entered the southbound lanes, where it collided with the approaching pickup truck.
Vizier was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The Silverado's driver, who was properly restrained, sustained no injuries in the crash.
While investigators did not suspect impairment on the part of the pickup truck driver, that person voluntarily provided a breath sample that detected no alcohol. State police collected a standard toxicology sample from Vizier and submitted it for laboratory analysis.
The crash remains under active investigation by Louisiana State Police.
State troopers used the incident to remind the public that operating all-terrain vehicles and utility terrain vehicles on public roadways violates Louisiana law. The vehicles may only be used on roads when directly related to farming or other specific duties outlined in Louisiana Revised Statute 32:299.
UTVs, also known as side-by-sides, are designed primarily for off-road recreational use and agricultural work. Unlike standard motor vehicles, they typically lack safety features required for highway travel, such as airbags, reinforced frames, and proper lighting systems.
Louisiana Highway 3235 serves as a major transportation route through Lafourche Parish, connecting communities along the state's coastal region.
