Iowa, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced an overnight closure of U.S. 165 Southbound at Interstate 10, scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, until 2 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The closure is necessary for crews to install concrete girders for the I-10 Eastbound bridge, an essential step in the ongoing bridge construction project.
While the closure may cause inconvenience for some drivers, the DOTD has provided a detour route to minimize disruptions. Motorists traveling on U.S. 165 Southbound will need to detour west onto LA 101, then south onto LA 383, followed by a turn east onto LA 3258, before rejoining U.S. 165 Southbound. It’s essential for drivers to follow the designated detour route to avoid any confusion or delays.
The I-10 Westbound on-ramp will remain open to U.S. 165 Southbound traffic, allowing drivers to continue their journey without significant interruption.
The bridge construction project is an ongoing effort to improve the infrastructure and safety of the region’s transportation network. The installation of concrete girders is a critical step in the process, requiring careful planning and execution to ensure the structural integrity of the bridge.
