Louisiana Two-Vehicle Crash in Acadia Parish Claims Life of Morse Woman

Morse, Louisiana – On February 10, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a tragic two-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 92, also known as W Whitney Street, near Everglade Road in Acadia Parish. The incident resulted in the death of 50-year-old Cora Barrios, a resident of Morse, Louisiana.

Preliminary investigations into the crash revealed that Barrios was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, traveling westbound on LA Hwy 92. At the same time, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 78-year-old Raymond Knieper, was following closely behind her vehicle. According to police, as the Trailblazer slowed to make a right turn onto Everglade Road, the Silverado failed to reduce its speed and collided with the rear of Barrios’s vehicle.

Barrios, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries. Knieper was wearing his seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries. He was also taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

In accordance with standard procedures, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the factors that led to this tragic incident.
