Sarepta, Louisiana – On February 28, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a tragic single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 371 near Bennett Road. The incident resulted in the death of 57-year-old Donnie Womack, a resident of Logansport, Louisiana.

According to the preliminary investigation, Womack was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 southbound on U.S. Highway 371 when, for reasons that are still under investigation, his vehicle veered off the roadway. The truck entered a private driveway and subsequently overturned. Womack, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Louisiana State Police reported that they suspect impairment may have played a role in the crash, and toxicology samples were collected from Womack for analysis. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing, and further details may emerge as authorities continue their work.

Louisiana State Police urge all drivers to remain vigilant and responsible while on the road to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
