Rayne, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop I initiated an investigation into a fatal two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10, approximately 3 miles west of Louisiana Highway 35, at approximately 8 am on the morning of December 15, 2023. The crash resulted in the tragic loss of Christopher Baker, aged 45 and from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Initial findings indicate that Tiffany Baker from Dodson was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage eastbound on I-10 when the vehicle veered off the road to the right and collided with the rear of a parked 2015 International 18-wheeler. Tiffany Baker sustained minor injuries. Christopher Baker, who was unrestrained and seated in the front passenger seat, suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene. The driver of the International was safely restrained and did not sustain any injuries.

Tiffany Baker provided a standard toxicology sample for analysis, with results pending. The driver of the International voluntarily underwent a breath sample test, which showed no alcohol detected. Louisiana State Police indicated that the investigation into this incident is ongoing, and charges are pending.
