Sorrento, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop A started looking into a deadly single-vehicle crash on the evening of February 22, 2024. The crash occurred on I-10 heading east, just west of LA Hwy 22 in Ascension Parish and tragically resulted in the death of Karissa L. Harris, a 37-year-old from Orange, Texas.
The first examination showed that Harris was driving east on I-10 in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle unexpectedly veered off to the left and into the median, hitting multiple trees before flipping over.
Harris was unrestrained and fatally injured in the crash. Louisiana State Police also indicated that impairment may have been a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
A 2-year-old child in the back seat, who was properly restrained, was uninjured but taken to the hospital for observation. The crash is still being investigated, and no additional details are available.
