Port Allen, Louisiana – On February 14, 2025, a routine traffic stop in Port Allen, Louisiana led to a significant drug bust that uncovered a large amount of cash and illegal substances. The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. when a Louisiana State Trooper, specializing in Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) enforcement, initiated a stop on a 2019 International Harvester tractor-trailer traveling on LA 415, north of Interstate 10.
During the stop, the trooper conducted a Level 2 CMV inspection, which is a more thorough examination of commercial vehicles, checking for compliance with safety regulations. While inspecting the vehicle, the trooper noticed a white plastic bag on the floorboard that appeared to contain a substantial sum of cash. This observation raised suspicions, prompting the trooper to request assistance from the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office for a more in-depth search.
The collaborative effort between the trooper and local law enforcement officers resulted in the seizure of $1,147,638 in U.S. currency, 183 pounds of suspected marijuana, and 7 grams of suspected cocaine. The cash and drugs were taken into custody as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 29-year-old Lenny Collado from Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested on the scene. He faces serious charges, including possession with the intent to distribute marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids, as well as transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses. Following his arrest, Collado was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
