Louisiana Teen Driver Killed in Late Night Two-Vehicle Crash on I-12
Slidell, Louisiana – On November 11, 2022, soon before 11:00 p.m., Troopers from LSP Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 near LA Highway 434 in St. Tammany Parish. Christian Tullis, 16, of Slidell, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
Tullis was driving eastbound on Interstate 12 in a 2010 Nissan Titan, according to the preliminary investigation. A 2021 Freightliner 18-wheeler was traveling on Interstate 12 in front of the Nissan at the same time. The Nissan collided with the back of the Freightliner trailer for unknown reasons.
Tullis died as a result of the crash, despite being properly restrained. He was pronounced dead at the spot. The Freightliner driver was properly belted and had no injuries as a result of the collision. The Freightliner driver was not suspected of being intoxicated and freely agreed to a chemical breath test, which revealed no alcohol. Tullis was subjected to a regular toxicological sample collection and analysis. This crash is still being investigated.
Troopers want to urge drivers to always make wise decisions when driving. Never drive while inebriated, fatigued, or distracted, and always obey all traffic rules. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
