Louisiana Teen Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on LA Highway 156

Winn Parish, Louisiana – A single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 156 resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Campti resident late Sunday night. The incident occurred west of Gum Springs Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. on December 29, 2024.

Louisiana State Police Troop E investigators report that Danny Smith of Campti, Louisiana was driving a 2007 Toyota Tundra westbound when the vehicle departed from the roadway. The pickup truck subsequently rolled multiple times before catching fire, with flames ultimately engulfing the vehicle.

State police officials confirmed that Smith sustained fatal injuries during the crash. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Due to the severity of the incident, investigators were unable to determine whether Smith had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

As part of standard procedure in fatal vehicle crashes, toxicology samples were collected and have been sent to a laboratory for analysis. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the factors that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.

Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and additional details will be released as they become available.
