Louisiana Teen Dies in Motorcycle Vs Vehicle Crash on LA 95

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on September 1, 2022, that on August 31, 2022, at about 9:30 p.m., LSP Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 95 at the intersection of the westbound on-ramp of Interstate 10 in Acadia Parish. Nathan L. LeBlanc, 17, of Duson, was killed in the crash.

The initial inquiry found that LeBlanc was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on LA 95. At the same time, Mary Batiste of Jennings, Louisiana, was driving a 2012 GMC Yukon north on LA 95. Batiste entered the path of the motorcycle as she turned left onto the I-10 westbound onramp.
In the southbound lane of LA 95, the motorcycle collided with the right side of a Yukon.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, LeBlanc sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Batiste was restrained correctly and reported minor injuries. She voluntarily provided a blood sample for testing after submitting a breath sample that revealed no alcohol in her system. A blood sample from LeBlanc was also sent in for testing. This crash is still being investigated.

LSP Troop I has investigated 39 fatal crashes that resulted in 33 deaths so far in 2022.
