Louisiana Teen Arrested in Possession of Stolen Items with Assistance of K-9 Officer
Shreveport, Louisiana – A Louisiana teen has been arrested in possession of stolen items with the assistance of a K-9 officer.
The Shreveport Police Department stated on April 19, 2023, that on April 14th, at around 2:30 a.m., patrol officers were called to a suspicious person call in the 1600 block of Shady Lane in regard to a victim sighting three individuals inside her vehicle attempting to steal items.
Officers were en route when they received word that the suspects were fleeing through the neighborhood. Officers on the scene saw a suspect flee by hopping a fence into a residential property. The Shreveport Police Department’s K-9 “Enzo” was dispatched to the area to look for suspects.
K9 Enzo discovered a 16-year-old adolescent hiding in a backyard in the 1600 block of Applewood Drive after several minutes of searching. The adolescent was discovered in possession of a firearm and many items related to alleged car burglaries in the region.
The juvenile was arrested on one count of simple burglary and one count of possession of Juvenile in Possession of an Illegal Weapon. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries and taken to a nearby hospital.
Authorities indicated that at the time this was published, the additional suspects have not been identified.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
