Louisiana Tax Preparer Faces Prison Sentence and Fine After Pleading Guilty to Filing False IRS Returns

Louisiana – Cheryl L. Kinchen, 40, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, pleaded guilty on May 31, 2022, before U.S. District Court Judge Greg G. Guidry to two counts of filing false tax returns in her personal capacity, according to U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans of the Eastern District of Louisiana.

According to court records, Kinchen, the owner/operator of Beyond Blessed Tax Services, prepared false tax returns for her own personal taxes in 2015 and 2017 by significantly underreporting the gross income she earned as a tax preparer during those years.

The sentencing date has been set for August 30, 2022. For filing false tax returns, Kinchen faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, up to one year of supervised release, a $100,000 fine, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

U.S. Attorney Evans praised the IRS-Criminal Investigation special agents for their handling of the case. Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera is prosecuting the case.
