Louisiana State Troopers Seize Large Quantity of Narcotics and Firearm in Traffic Stop

New Orleans, Louisiana – A successful traffic stop by Troop NOLA in New Orleans East marked the beginning of phase two of Operation STRIKE, resulting in the arrest of a suspect wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm. Kirk Jenkins, 51, was taken into custody after troopers discovered a firearm and a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics in his possession.

The operation, which commenced in September, aims to curb crime in the area. Troopers from Troop NOLA were conducting a traffic stop when they apprehended Jenkins, who was wanted for an outstanding warrant related to an aggravated assault incident.

During the arrest, troopers confiscated a firearm and a large quantity of narcotics, including 259 doses of Tapentadol, a prescription pain medication. Additionally, they seized 44 grams of heroin, 411 grams of MDMA (a synthetic psychoactive substance), 87 grams of cocaine, and 562 grams of marijuana. These substances have the potential to cause significant harm to individuals and the community.

Jenkins was arrested and charged with the outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm, as well as additional charges related to the possession of the firearm and the illegal narcotics. The exact charges and penalties will depend on the outcome of the investigation and the court proceedings.

Operation STRIKE is a concerted effort by law enforcement agencies to address crime and promote public safety in the region.
