Louisiana State Troopers Focus on Intoxicated Drivers and Seat Belt Use this Memorial Day Weekend
From the Louisiana State Police – This Memorial Day weekend, many of us will travel across Louisiana and the nation. In an effort to reduce the number of serious crashes, Troopers will focus on DWI and seat belt use through enforcement and education.
One such area of education Troopers participate in is Sudden Impact Louisiana, a program aimed at young drivers. One of those drivers is the young man pictured here, Patrick. He is a success story of Sudden Impact and proof that education works. Patrick, a 17-year-old high school student in the Lafayette area, was recently in a no-fault serious crash. Luckily, he had recently gone through the Sudden Impact program where he learned the importance of seat belt use, and made the choice to always wear his while in a vehicle.
As you travel this Memorial Day weekend, remember Patrick’s success story. Despite his injuries, he is still here today to tell his story and spend the weekend with his family and loved ones. Simply put, Troopers want that for everyone in our state. Please take a second this weekend before traveling to #BuckleUp, and always #DriveSober!
The Louisiana State Police would like to wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend!
