Louisiana State Trooper from Lake Charles Placed on Leave Following Off-Duty DWI Arrest
Louisiana – On June 24, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that the Atlanta Police Department contacted LSP Troop D regarding the arrest of an off-duty Louisiana State Trooper. According to Atlanta Police Department officials, 34-year-old Aubin Young of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for DWI and other traffic charges following a traffic stop shortly before 2:00 a.m. on June 23, 2022. Young, who is currently assigned to patrol in the Troop D Lake Charles, Louisiana area, has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, and the department has recovered all law enforcement property. Young has worked for LSP since 2017.
According to Atlanta Police Department reports, the incident occurred when an officer noticed Young driving in the wrong direction on a city street. When the Officer conducted a traffic stop and came into contact with Young, he suspected impairment and administered a series of standardized field sobriety tests. Young was arrested for DWI and later transported to the Atlanta City Jail.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
