Baton Rouge, Louisiana - A Louisiana State Trooper was arrested during the early morning hours of August 26 for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), his second offense, while already on leave following a separate incident in March. Trooper Isaiah Gilbert, 28, of Hammond, Louisiana was pulled over by a fellow trooper on Interstate 110 in East Baton Rouge Parish after crossing the divider line.

During the traffic stop, Gilbert was identified and taken into custody. He was transported to Troop A, where he provided a breath sample that registered above the legal limit. Gilbert was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on multiple charges, including Improper Lane Usage, DWI (2nd Offense), Driving While Under Suspension for Certain Offenses, Simple Damage to Property, and Open Container.

Gilbert has been employed with the Louisiana State Police since 2021 and was already on leave pending the outcome of an investigation into a March 10 incident, in which he was arrested for DWI (1st Offense) and Careless Operation. All law enforcement property previously issued to Gilbert has been recovered pending the conclusion of both criminal and administrative investigations.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
