Louisiana State Police Troop D Receives Leaders in Law Enforcement Award
On August 9, 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop D received the Leaders in Law Enforcement Award from the Community Foundation of Acadiana in collaboration with the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation. This award is intended to recognize law enforcement agencies and district attorney offices who are having the most impact in their communities with the resources they have.
Louisiana State Police Troop D was recognized for its community and recovery efforts following Hurricanes Laura and Ida, as well as for sending personnel to help with severe floods in Orange, Texas. Troop D has also raised charitable funds through the Trooper Steven Vincent Memorial One Vest One Life Team 5k Event, which assisted in the purchase of ballistic vests for each Trooper, as well as by supporting the Louisiana State Troopers Association – Louisiana Troopers Charities, which assists terminally and chronically ill children, and by sponsoring outdoor activities for underprivileged and inner-city youth.
Troop D also assists in the organization of a Skills for Life Camp, which teaches students practical life skills and principles that will have a long-term positive impact on them.
This award will help to enhance operations and encourage exceptional performance in the future. The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Caddo Parish 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office were both also recognized for their work in their respective communities.
