Crowley, Louisiana – In the early hours of August 9, 2024, just after midnight, Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a tragic hit-and-run crash that occurred near the intersection of Jasmine Road and Interstate 10 Service Road in Acadia Parish. The incident resulted in the death of 41-year-old Coby Ortego from Ville Platte.

According to the preliminary investigation, an unidentified vehicle was traveling west on Jasmine Road when it struck Ortego, who was on foot. After the collision, the vehicle continued driving and fled the scene without stopping to render aid or report the crash.
