Louisiana State Police Respond to Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 8

Vernon Parish, Louisiana – On February 9, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a tragic one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 8, near Comrade Road, that resulted in the death of 64-year-old Joseph M. Antee from Flatwoods, Louisiana. The incident occurred shortly after noon, around 12:08 p.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency services.

According to the preliminary investigation, Antee was operating a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Louisiana Highway 8 when he encountered a left-hand curve. For reasons that remain unclear, Antee failed to successfully navigate the curve, leading the motorcycle off the roadway. The vehicle subsequently struck a driveway embankment, which ejected Antee from the motorcycle.

Tragically, Antee sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. Routine toxicology samples were collected from the scene and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Louisiana State Police emphasize the importance of safety while operating motor vehicles, particularly motorcycles, which can be more vulnerable in certain driving conditions.
