Lincoln Parish, Louisiana - On the morning of Monday, April 1, 2024, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F started looking into a deadly single-vehicle crash on I-20 located east of LA-145. The incident resulted in the death of Thomas Rogers, a 47-year-old resident of Crestview, Florida.

During the initial investigation, it was discovered that a 2016 Ram 1500, driven by Rogers, was heading east on I-20. The Ram veered off the road to the right and flipped over for reasons that are still being investigated.

Rogers was wearing a seatbelt however, he sustained severe injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he passed away later. Samples for routine toxicology testing were taken and will be analyzed. The crash is still being looked into.

Troopers want to emphasize the importance of making responsible choices while driving. It's crucial to avoid driving under the influence, fatigued, or being distracted. It's also essential to obey all traffic regulations and ensure that everyone in the vehicle is wearing their seatbelt. While not all crashes can be prevented, following these simple precautions can sometimes be the difference between surviving or not.

So far in 2024, Troop F has investigated nine fatal collisions, which led to the loss of ten lives.
