Tallulah, Louisiana - The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division (LSP CID) has made significant progress in the homicide case that shook the city of Tallulah on September 8, 2024. Detectives from the Monroe Field Office (MFO) have arrested four individuals in connection with the death of 24-year-old John Ward Jr. of Texas.

The incident, which occurred in the 200 block of Thomas Street, has been under investigation for several weeks. As the case developed, authorities gathered crucial information leading to the issuance of arrest warrants by the 6th Judicial District Court.

The suspects arrested and their charges are as follows:

  • Javion Nelson, 21, of Delhi: second-degree murder and obstruction of justice
  • Gerald Albert, 26, of Tallulah: illegal carrying and discharge of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Ta'Niqua Brazil, 33, of Tallulah: obstruction of justice, aggravated second-degree battery, false swearing for the purpose of violating public safety
  • Deontay Willmore, 39, of Tallulah: obstruction of justice

All four suspects were taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked into the Madison Parish Detention Center. The LSP MFO has stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with no further information available at this time.

The case began in the early hours of September 8, when the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the LSP CID to investigate a homicide within Tallulah city limits. The initial report indicated that a shooting had occurred around 1:50 a.m., resulting in one fatality.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
