Louisiana State Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting at Request of Rayne Police Department

Rayne, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting at the request of the Rayne Police Department.

The Rayne Police Department called upon the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations on September 7, 2023, around 11:45 p.m., to look into an incident of an officer-involved shooting that took place in the city of Rayne, Louisiana specifically within the 1000 block of East Jefferson Davis Avenue.

This occurred after an initial report of an individual discharging a firearm in the vicinity, which escalated into a gunfire exchange. One individual was severely injured in the shooting and rushed to a nearby hospital.

There were no injuries reported among the officers during this event.
