Louisiana State Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting at Nightclub in Lafayette
Lafayette, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting at a nightclub in Lafayette.
Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported on April 10, 2023, that soon before 11:00 p.m. on April 9, LSP was requested by the Lafayette Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting. The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division.
On April 9, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to shots fired at a nightclub in the 4400 block of Johnston Street. A responding officer on a security detail at the nightclub reportedly fired his weapon. According to authorities, one subject was shot by an officer and sustained a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. The officer involved was unharmed.
The initial shooting incident is being investigated by Lafayette Police, while the officer-involved shooting is being investigated by Louisiana State Police.
