Louisiana State Police Investigating Murder-Suicide Discovered During Welfare Check Following a Domestic Violence Incident
East Carroll Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police are investigating a murder-suicide discovered during a welfare check following a domestic violence incident.
On April 2, 2023, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that on Saturday, April 1, 2023, shortly after 3:00 p.m., detectives assigned to the LSP Bureau of Investigations Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) were requested by the East Carroll Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) to investigate a homicide in the 200 block of Keene Street. Olivia Denise Nash, 40, and Brandon Thompson, 37, of Lake Providence, Louisiana, have been identified as the deceased victims.
According to the preliminary investigation, ECSO arrived at Keene Street in response to a welfare check following a previous domestic violence incident. When deputies arrived, they reportedly discovered Nash, who had been fatally shot. Thompson, Nash’s husband, was later discovered in the Mississippi River near the residence, also dead.
LSP MFO will lead the investigation. Louisiana State Police Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene. The East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the investigation. The probe is still ongoing.
