Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop E arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Clyde Smith Road around 12:50 p.m. on February 20, 2024. Unfortunately, the crash resulted in the fatalities of Carrington Ramos, 34, from Bunkie, Louisiana, and Elliot Charles Jordan III, 30, from Marksville, Louisiana.

The initial findings showed that Ramos was driving a 2008 Acura RDX south on Clyde Smith Road when the vehicle veered off the road, went down a ditch, and hit a tree. The reasons for this incident are still being looked into by LSP.

Ramos and Jordan, both unrestrained, received fatal injuries and were declared dead on the spot. Toxicology samples were collected for testing. The crash is still being investigated.

Although not all crashes can be survived, using seat belts correctly can significantly lower the likelihood of death for a person involved and can also greatly minimize the severity of injuries. Making sure that everyone in a vehicle is properly secured with a seat belt can often determine whether they survive a crash or not.

So far in 2024, Troop E has investigated five fatal crashes that led to six fatalities.
