Evangeline Parish, Louisiana – A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 13 in the early hours of November 28, 2024, resulted in the death of a 20-year-old woman from Ville Platte, Louisiana. The Louisiana State Police reported that troopers from Troop I responded to the incident shortly after 12:00 a.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, Kimberly Thomas, the driver of a 2013 Buick LaCrosse, was attempting to make a U-turn while traveling south on LA Hwy 13 near Gradney Lane. At the same time, a 2013 Ford F-150, also traveling south, struck the left side of the LaCrosse as it was making the U-turn.
Thomas, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. A passenger in the LaCrosse, as well as the driver of the F-150, who were also unrestrained, were transported to a nearby hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were obtained from all drivers involved for further analysis. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the Louisiana State Police is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
