Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash That Claimed the Life of a Texas Man in Plaquemines Parish

Belle Chasse, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop B is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday, September 12, 2024, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Chance Dickerson from Lubbock, Texas. The incident took place shortly before 10:30 pm on LA 23 near Shady Oaks Lane in Plaquemines Parish.

According to the preliminary investigation, Dickerson was driving a 2008 Nissan Z southbound on LA 23 when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. The car struck a mailbox and two electrical poles before coming to a stop. Despite being properly restrained, Dickerson suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have obtained routine toxicology samples for analysis. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police emphasize the importance of safe driving practices, particularly in light of this tragic incident.
