Columbia, Louisiana – On Thursday, January 23, 2025, shortly before midnight, Louisiana State Police Troop F began their investigation into a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 165, just north of Louisiana Highway 4. The incident resulted in the death of 75-year-old Marshall Taylor, a resident of Columbia, Louisiana.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by law enforcement, Taylor was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on U.S. Highway 165 when, for reasons that remain unclear, the vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway. The Chevrolet subsequently collided with a utility pole, leading to the fatal outcome.

Taylor, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, was pronounced dead by emergency responders. While impairment is not currently suspected to be a factor in the crash, standard procedure mandates that toxicology samples be collected for further analysis. The results of these tests will provide more information regarding any potential substances that may have influenced the incident.

The Louisiana State Police remind drivers of the importance of wearing seatbelts and staying alert while driving in order to prevent tragic incidents like this one.
