Choudrant, Louisiana - A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on the evening of Thursday, June 12, 2025, on Interstate 20 eastbound, just east of Louisiana Highway 145. According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, the incident claimed the life of 44-year-old Pedro Victoriano Rios, a resident of Marshall, Texas.

The initial police investigation determined that Victoriano Rios was driving a 2011 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Interstate 20 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Victoriano Rios, who was unrestrained at the time of the incident, suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Law enforcement officials collected routine toxicology samples, which will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Troopers highlighted the continued importance of using seat belts, explaining that being unrestrained can significantly increase the risk of serious injury or death in a crash.
