Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash Near US 165 in Ouachita Parish

Ouachita Parish, Louisiana - A fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, claiming the life of a 26-year-old pedestrian. The incident happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Jackson Street, near the intersection with US 165.

According to a preliminary investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop F, a 2024 Honda Pilot was traveling north on Jackson Street when it struck a pedestrian, identified as Bobby Bass of Monroe, Louisiana. Bass was also walking north in the northbound lane, wearing dark clothing.

The driver of the Honda, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash. However, Bass suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and impairment is not suspected at this time. Routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver and will be submitted for analysis.
