Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Delhi

Delhi, Louisiana - A deadly officer-involved shooting occurred on August 11, 2024, in Delhi, Louisiana, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Rodrick Edmond. The incident is currently under investigation by the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division.

According to preliminary findings, Delhi Police Department officers encountered Edmond around 10:00 p.m. that evening in the police department parking lot, where he was operating a vehicle suspiciously. When officers approached him, Edmond refused to stop and fled in the vehicle, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended on LA Hwy 17, where Edmond exited the vehicle armed with a knife.

An altercation ensued, and officers discharged their firearms, striking Edmond. Despite attempts to render first aid, Edmond succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No officers were harmed during the incident.

The Louisiana State Police are urging anyone with information, pictures, or video related to the incident to come forward. Individuals can report anonymously through the Louisiana State Police online reporting system or by calling the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007.
