Rapides Parish, Louisiana — Louisiana State Police Troop E is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred late Saturday night, May 3, 2025, on Hooper Road near Louisiana Highway 3225. The incident resulted in the death of Alijah F. Johnson, a 19-year-old resident of Ball, Louisiana.

According to the initial police report, Johnson was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle traveling eastbound on Hooper Road at approximately 10:46 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, Johnson’s vehicle crossed the center lines, left the paved roadway, and entered the westbound ditch. The motorcycle’s movement caused Johnson to be ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene and transported Johnson to a local hospital. Despite medical intervention, Johnson succumbed to his injuries. As is standard procedure in fatal crashes, routine toxicology samples were collected from Johnson and will be submitted for laboratory analysis to determine if impairment was a factor. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the factors that may have contributed to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.

State police are urging all motorcycle riders, regardless of experience level, to participate in an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses are designed to teach essential skills such as defensive driving techniques, hazard recognition, and emergency maneuvers. According to safety experts, training can significantly reduce the risk of serious crashes by helping riders anticipate and respond to potential dangers on the road.

Motorcycle crashes often result in more severe injuries compared to car crashes due to the lack of protective barriers. Law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of wearing proper safety gear, including Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved helmets, gloves, jackets, and boots, which can provide critical protection in the event of a crash.
