Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Longville Teen

Ragley, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop D is conducting an investigation into a tragic hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old pedestrian in Longville. The incident occurred shortly before 4:00 a.m. on February 9, 2025, on U.S. Highway 171 near A.D. Hodges Road.

According to preliminary investigation reports, Jodie Cannon was walking in the right southbound lane of U.S. Highway 171 when he was struck by a vehicle. After the collision, the driver reportedly fled the scene, leaving Cannon with fatal injuries. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

In the wake of the incident, troopers and detectives from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations – Sulphur Field Office have been following up on numerous leads. Through their investigative efforts, they have identified a potential vehicle and driver connected to the crash; however, further forensic analysis is currently pending.
