Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Highway 2 Rollover Crash

Bastrop, Louisiana – A single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 2 resulted in the death of a Mer Rouge resident on Friday afternoon, according to Louisiana State Police.

James Boudreaux, 61, of Mer Rouge, Louisiana was driving eastbound on Louisiana Highway 2 in a 1995 Dodge Ram when the incident occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. on December 27, 2024. The location of the crash was east of U.S. Highway 165 in Morehouse Parish.

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F, who responded to the scene, reported that Boudreaux’s vehicle departed from the left side of the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The vehicle subsequently overturned, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver despite his proper use of safety restraints.

Emergency responders pronounced Boudreaux deceased at the scene. As part of standard procedure in fatal crash investigations, toxicology samples were collected and will undergo laboratory analysis.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash continues, with Louisiana State Police working to determine the factors that contributed to this incident.
